While winter snow piles deep and long on the Sierra crest, what falls to the valleys and ranges immediately east exists ephemerally. I took the opportunity to document this fleeting coat of white on the desert terrain and its transition into fleeting puddles and streams. Most of these many scenes I consider pure ‘evidence,’ while others simply engaged my imagination because of a particular object, pattern or shape, color or lighting. It is my hope that these can appeal both scientifically and aesthetically. They are presented chronologically.
